Pamir Highway Day 2 Kara kul - Murgab

Our border crossing into TJ was longer than those cyclists' because our diver has to bribe the customs officers. The highlight is the day was Lake Karakol - a crater lake near the Kyrgyz and Chinese Border that is frozen half the year

When we reached Murgab late, toured five guest houses before checking in the Pamir Hotel, the only one has real beds (instead of sleeping on the floors), hot water showers, and western TV programs. It also has the best dinners in town, one soup plus a big tasty main course only cost $5. Our 4-bed dorm only cost $10 per bed including breakfast. Very happy with our stay here, and I know for sure that I would miss the hot water shower, western toilets, real beds, and tasty food in the count 5 days. I was reminded during each international trip not to take basic life simple pleasures, such as hot water showers and western toilets, for granted.

This area is prong for Earthquake which cause landslides and lakes. We experienced a minor earthquake tonight. I grow up in Taiwan and was used to it, but only experienced some in Japanese back in 2001, and once in Virginia, USA.
