18 hour layover in Beijing, China

I survived  13 hours flight, missed phone company operation hours, met a business contact at 俏江南 for dinner, but skipped palace museum due to my bigger backpack which UA refused to check via to Kashi (over 12 hr layover) and I did not see lockers in the airport.

My budget in Beijing was $21, include $13 for a bed in a 4-female dorm room in a hostel near the airport providing free rides to/from the airport. It was a bit noisy because the flights and guests in and out late or very early. I managed to carry my mid-size backpack via subway security check and inside of subway during rush hours.
