Hostels in Osh, Tajikistan vs Kashi, China

I just followed my travel mate to Biy Ordo guest house which was nicer, cleaner, and cheaper than the hostels I stayed in Kashi. We had a big dinner at the nearby restaurant, and it costed me less than $2 for this huge plate of food.  However, there were a lot of flies, so we sit on a table with the maximum amount of AC air to blow away the flies, but no stomach issues from the food. As a side note, staying in Kashi old town hostel instead of Pamir hostel which operates by the same owner with newer facilities yet hotter and noisier, although the staff was more helpful. I escaped the blazing heat and deserts in Kashi into cool mountains in Osh.
